Launch of the 2024 Multidisciplinary Project Course

Last Saturday, students from the IDIL Graduate Program began their journey in our Multidisciplinary Project course. This year, fourteen groups were formed, each composed of 3–4 students, drawn from our twelve master’s tracks, including political science, ecology, health, and more. Together, they will co-develop aresearch proposal that integrates multiple fields of study 🔀

The Multidisciplinary Project is a signature component of the IDIL Graduate Program. Its main objective is to familiarize students with the processes and methodologies involved in developing and managing multidisciplinary research projects. This approach is essential for addressing rising complex scientific and societal challenges that require combined expertise from several domains such as climate change or public health issues. In today’s research environment, researchers are increasingly expected to operate efficiently within multidisciplinary teams.

🔬 Each group is supervised by a researcher or faculty member who provides guidance throughout the project, from the initial discussion of ideas through to the writing of the letter of intent.

📊 The project is an important part of our M2 students’ academic year. Assessment includes a state-of-the-art review and a graphical abstract (30% of the final grade) and the core of the evaluation is the group’s letter of intent (60%), while the remaining (10%) reflects active participation and engagement throughout the course.

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated faculty members who make this course possible: Mathieu Sicard, Laura Michel, Arnaud Tognetti, Constance Delaby, Marie Charpentier, Guillaume Charrière, and Emanuel A. Fronhofer for sharing their expertise and ensuring the course’s success. We would also like to thank Ginna Kurmen, our Learning Experience Designer, for her input in designing this course.

We look forward to seeing the research projects proposals that will emerge from this collaboration. We wish all our M2 students the very best on this inspiring journey!
