Financial Aid Programs for IDIL Students

The IDIL graduate program at the University of Montpellier offers several financial aid options to support students throughout their master’s program and enable them to gain practical research experience in an international academic environment.

Depending on their circumstances and academic background, students may be eligible for the IDIL international scholarship, a stipend during their research internships, and other national and international funding programs.

The awarding of scholarships and the payment of internship stipends are subject to the eligibility requirements and funding terms currently in effect.

1. IDIL International Scholarship

Financial aid for international students enrolled in an IDIL master's program.

The IDIL International Scholarship is designed to provide financial support to international students during the first semester of their master’s program at the University of Montpellier.

Scholarship Amounts

Students who meet the eligibility requirements can thus receive financial aid of up to €5,400 over the two years of the master’s program, provided they remain eligible and continue to be enrolled.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the IDIL International Scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

• Be an international (non-French) student admitted to an eligible IDIL master’s program at the University of Montpellier.
• Not have attended a French institution of higher education during the two years prior to their admission.
• Have completed their administrative registration at the University of Montpellier.
• Not be a recipient of the Eiffel Scholarship (see below) or any other scholarships that cannot be combined with the IDIL Scholarship

How can I apply for the scholarship?

1. The IDIL International Scholarship is automatically awarded to students admitted to an IDIL master’s program who meet the eligibility requirements.
2. Les étudiants n’ont donc pas besoin de déposer un dossier de demande de bourse ni de participer à une procédure de sélection supplémentaire.

Important: The IDIL scholarship is a form of financial aid and is not intended to cover all expenses related to living in France. Students must therefore ensure they have sufficient additional financial resources to cover their housing, food, insurance, and other daily expenses throughout their studies.

2. Research Internship Stipends

An opportunity to immerse yourself in research, accompanied by financial support.

Laboratory immersion is one of the cornerstones of the IDIL graduate program. As part of their training, students complete research internships that allow them to join scientific teams, participate in research projects, and develop their practical and methodological skills.

Amount of Bonuses

Students may receive an internship stipend of approximately €620 to €650 per month, depending on current regulations and the terms of their internship.

Research internships generally take place during the second semester of each year of the master's program.

Who funds the internships?

In the first year of the master's program (M1)

The IDIL graduate program provides funding for the first research internship completed during the M1 year, in accordance with the program’s funding guidelines.

This funding from IDIL makes it easier for students to secure an internship and gives them greater freedom in choosing a laboratory at the University of Montpellier.

In the second year of the master's program (M2)

In the M2 program, students complete a second research internship. The stipend is paid by the host laboratory or organization, in accordance with current regulations and the provisions set forth in the internship agreement.

3. France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship

A merit-based scholarship program for international students.

The France Excellence Eiffel scholarship program, developed by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and administered by Campus France, aims to attract the best international students to France who wish to pursue master’s or doctoral studies.

The IDIL programs at the University of Montpellier may submit applications on behalf of international students who meet the eligibility criteria for this selective program.

How does the device work?

• Les candidats doivent répondre aux critères d’éligibilité définis par le programme France Excellence Eiffel.
• Les candidatures doivent être envoyées directement aux responsables masters du parcours IDIL concerné afin de demander l’examen de son dossier académique. Si le responsable master juge que le dossier de l’étudiant mérite d’être soutenu, le dossier sera ensuite transmis pour être présenté à la commission de sélection.
• Students cannot apply directly to Campus France.
• The award of the scholarship is based on a national selection process, at the end of which the recipients are chosen.

International applicants wishing to enroll in an IDIL master’s program and receive the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship are encouraged to contact the academic advisor(s) for the relevant IDIL program well in advance to request their support.

Elle s’adresse aux candidats présentant un parcours académique exceptionnel et un fort potentiel de réussite.

L’Université de Montpellier ne peut présenter qu’un nombre très limité de candidatures chaque année. Le fait de remplir les conditions d’admission à un master IDIL ne signifie donc pas nécessairement que votre profil correspond aux exigences de la bourse Eiffel. Par ailleurs, une candidature présentée par l’Université ne garantit pas l’obtention de la bourse.
