A Look Back at the IDIL Summer School 2026–2027

Thank you to all the participants for their involvement in our annual IDIL Summer School ☀️. This very special week is a key moment for our entire community, allowing us to come together and start the academic year on the right foot.

Below is a brief summary of the week's highlights:

🎤 Opening Ceremony and Presentation of the Programs: The President of the University of Montpellier, Mr. Philippe Augé, and Ms. Véronique Dominguez-Guillaume (Deputy Rector for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation for the Occitanie academic region) welcomed our students alongside the program coordinators, Prof. Agnès Fichard-Carroll and Prof. Mathieu Sicard, to kick off this new academic year.

We would also like to thank our program coordinators, who were able to present their 14 respective programs to all IDIL students gathered for the occasion 🎓.

🔬 Multidisciplinary Lectures: Throughout the week, six late-afternoon lectures gave our students the opportunity to explore topics outside their primary field of study and engage in multidisciplinary discussions.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our speakers for their presentations: Dr. Mathieu Desroches, Dr. Gilles N’Goala, Dr. Marie-Laure Geoffray, Dr. Jean-Charles Walter, Dr. Onofrio Mazzarisi, and Dr. Clément Bonnet.

🤝 Mentor-Mentee Meeting: This friendly outdoor gathering on the Triolet campus gave students the opportunity to meet their research mentors and gain a concrete glimpse into the wealth of research being conducted in the University of Montpellier’s partner laboratories.

🎉 IDIL Gala: To wrap up the week on a lighter note, students and alumni of the program gathered on Friday for a fun evening at the Orangerie in Montpellier’s Jardin des Plantes.

📊 Key Points for 2026–2027

  • Growing Student Enrollment: The number of students has once again increased significantly this year, with international students accounting for nearly 60% of the class.
  • A New Master’s Track: The IDIL Graduate Program is delighted to welcome the new “Sustainable Economies & Societies” track to our curriculum, led by the Montpellier School of Economics and directed by Edmond Baranes and Éliette Monsegur.

📆 Expansion of the IDIL Graduated Program for 2027–2028

We are pleased to announce that theIDIL’s training program will expand from 13 to 𝟮𝟯 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘁 𝟭 courses for young people starting with the next academic year (these are already available here)
