IDIL Interdisciplinary Day 2025

On Saturday, March 8, the IDIL community gathered for another edition ofInterdisciplinary Day, a key event in the program that promotes interdisciplinary exchange between our master’s students and doctoral candidates 🎓

A program rich in interaction and new experiences

The event was organized into three parts:

🔬 Five “mirror thesis” presentations – Our PhD students and their co-advisors presented their research in a dynamic format accessible to all. A big thank you to the presenters: Dr. Pierre Villeneuve, Anita C., Hiteshree Koli, Dr. Florence Rage, Dr. Benoît Charlot, Lucas Alonso, Léa Vuiart, Dr. Sebastien Ulrich, Dr. Prisca Boisguerin, Jules Vastra, Thania Hammoum, Dr. Marie Demion, Dr. Valérie Bultel, Ana Abramova, Jamie Bride, Clémence Epinoux, and Matthieu de Castelbajac for their presentations!

🔀 Ten presentations of multidisciplinary projects – Master’s students had the opportunity to showcase their respective projects, demonstrating the value of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing today’s challenges.

💬 Two interdisciplinary discussions – Volunteer master’s students took the floor to discuss two major topics before a panel of international researchers from the MAK’IT Montpellier Institute and the IDIL Graduate Program:

1️⃣ Planet in danger, biodiversity under threat: what are the solutions? – An analysis inspired by the latest IPBES report on transformative change.

2️⃣ What Role Should Researchers Play in Times of Transition? – A Reflection on Ethical Responsibility and Social Engagement in Scientific Research.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our jury—Emanuel A. Fronhofer, Cherine Bechara, Anand Madhur, and Mourad Latati—as well as to the discussion moderators, Camille Guibal and Laura Michel!

A time for socializing and sharing

The event also featured a casual buffet, which encouraged informal conversation among the participants 🎉

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our students for their dedication, to our program directors Agnès Fichard-Carroll and Mathieu Sicard, and to the logistics teams who helped make this event a success.

We will soon be publishing our students’ presentations from the interdisciplinary discussions—a unique opportunity for them to share their perspectives with a panel of international researchers!
